Grieco's Movies And Other Stuff...

Well it's time now to "review" some new DVD releases , and some I've seen in the last month. I watch an average of 4 movies a week all while doing my normal day to day shit , exercise etc. So here's the story from A. Grieco on the movies...
My ratings system: here it goes

1 Ghetto or M-factor must see (if you want to be ghetto or down with the M factor)
2 standard formula special effects movie
3 standard formula cop or crime movie
4 anti man/white male / make white people look like shit in general film
5 nothing better to do film
6 so stupid it could be fun film
7 total fucking waste of money
8 epic shit you'll watch again so maybe buy it
9 worth watching with a female
10 total propaganda
11 kid shit
12 funny but stupid
13 true story type stuff
14 movie that makes you think
15 decent /good story line
16 light propaganda snuck in
17 stupid ass horror film
18 actually scary horror film

This is my basic "codes for rating films" I've found most movies fall into these categories so try the shit out. Some films even fall into two categories or more.Maybe I'll make another rating's system later, but this is a system that gives you the real info...

Cold Mountain - This is a civil war era film, that is worth watching just to see Jude Law talk like a redneck. The story is OK , kind of shows another part of the civil war, the soldiers who stayed in the town and took care of deserters in the south. The kinda fat chick from Jerry Mcguire, Reneee Zellweger, overdoes her charatcter of "country ass dyke" with her overplayed redneck accent. Rather watch "Swing Blade" for that "country attitude" . The characters are more believable at least, Dwight Yokum's tantrums and John Ritter's fag character as well as the "inbred little boy" character are realistic. And beleive it or not Dwight Yokum is a really good actor when he has a good part. So I give Cold Mountain a " 9 Worth watching with a female " rating.

Another movie I have seen recently is "Mystic River " featuring two hollywood activist pieces of shit , Tim Robbins ans Sean Penn. OK the story is good, I enjoyed the film even though I fucking hate the actors involved in it. It was a basic murder story, the story was about the murder investigation of the Penn character's daughter. Sean Penn plays an ex con and the movie has a realistic ending which shows how a woman will always stick by and justify the actions of a self centered piece of shit man (Penn) and find a man who deals with his pain in other ways besides treating other like shit constantly as "weak". 9 worth watching with a female/15 decent /good story line/16 light propaganda thrown in

"Bubba Ho-Tep"
OK ever seen "Evil Dead" or "Army of Darkness? " these are great stupid horror /comedy films . this guy is like hacking up zomies with a chainsaw and gets his hand cut off. The guy in this film is goofball actor Bruce Cambell. Now Cambell comes back playing Elvis Prestley in an old folks home. Black actor Ossie Davis plays "JFK" . Now to understand this whole concept you'd have to see the movie, which had a ok Elvis story , but nothing is done with it. It could have had a better monster , better story with the old folks at the home. But the film does convey the feeling of uselessness and carlessness folks have for the old. Even though it was a stupid movie that wasn't too great on the actual "monster, demon whatever" part of the story , the Elvis parts were OK.
I give this a 5 nothing better to do film with a light "14" rating as well, as far as the "senior citizen" issue is concerned. To see some of Cambell's better work, watch "Evil Dead" or " Army of Darkness" ...

"My Baby's Daddy"
OK this is a comedy with improbable situations, such as three guys who grew up together having babies born at the exact same time, black guys who have no house actually taking care of their kids, and of course making Asian people look like complete idiots , which for some reason is totally acceptable in Hollywood. A stupid formulamatic film with the obvious "happy " endings. It does have it's moments though. For those who love ridicule and disrespect of Asian people there's plenty to love, as well as plenty of "fart" jokes for the ultra ignorant. The kids are all mixed which gives the "mud shark" set somthing to love. I actually rented this film because of Soprano's Michael Imperioli but I think this is a sample of the bullshit he'll end up doing after Soprano's runs out. Maybe he should stick to writing / directing. I give this film a 12 funny but stupid and a 1 ghetto or M- factor must see, as well as a 5 nothing better to do film

This last film is a documentary , "The Fog Of War" . I think this film is great for this year because of the elections. It is the story of Robert McNamera, the former secratary of defense. This film tells the story through actual film footage and tapes of the Kennedy years, Vietnam and beyond. Lots of details about WW 2 , where the US was firebombing 100,000 Japanese civilians . Funny back in those days they actually made no issue of killing civilians. There was a real interesting section where it showed percentages of Japanese cities compared with US cities of comparable size. They destroyed like 51 percent of Tokyo , which is comparable to New York city as far as size. And the really fucked up thing is this is before the atomic bombs were dropped. They firebombed thousands . This really shows the difference is casulties then and now, because of technology we now don't have to kill all these civilians to fight a war. Interensting documentary, and McNamera is a smart guy. Anyone voting either way should watch this film. I give it a -13 true story type stuff and a- 14 movie that makes you think rating. Well that's all for tonight folks ...
